The Learning Engagement Centre (LEC) is the hub for special education services within the school to support students with verified disabilities. The team that works here comprises of both teachers and teacher aides and is led by the Head of Special Education Services.
Bundamba State Secondary College LEC is committed to developing inclusive schooling practices to maximise the outcomes of students with disabilities through identification and reduction of barriers to learning. Students are provided with reasonable adjustments and curriculum provisions to ensure full engagement within the school community to enable students to achieve at their level. Opportunities in the development of communication, social participation, life skills, emotional wellbeing, safety, health and personal care are provided so as a successful transition can be made into post school life.
Students with a disability who enrol in the school have a teacher as their case manager, who is responsible for coordinating their program within the school. Appropriate adjustments are made to students’ educational programs and various levels of support are provided depending upon each student’s individual needs.
